Two Detentions Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

The assault caused the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people injured by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
