Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot including angels, demons, and sinister influences expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem unsuited, but the events of the third episode show why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and warns that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as important members in the powerful family could assist the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
