“That was unfortunate. It was essentially an exchange with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones explained during a radio appearance. “There was a large group of Cowboys fans—not New York fans, our fans. The entire stadium was brimming with excitement for the Dallas team.”
Jones additionally clarified that the signal was completely accidental, occurring amid the excitement following the team’s final touchdown. “I simply showed the incorrect finger,” he noted. “It was inadvertently performed. This is sincere. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. However, it got corrected pretty quick.”

- Panthers owner David Tepper was fined $300,000 for throwing a drink at spectators in January 2024.
